Hi Velina,
I am very stressed and think massage could help but I have never been able to relax enough to get anything out of massage in the past. How can you help me with my stress?
Thanks,
Joe – Boulder, CO

Hi Joe,
You wouldn’t be my first client who was so stressed he couldn’t relax on the table. My services offer much more than just table work. I like to take atleast 15-20 minutes checking in to get a really good picture of what the nature of my clients stress is. I also have tools that can help discharge excess energy in the body to make it easier to let go and relax on the table. I might guide you in some exercises prior to laying down. And if you still feel anxious or overstimulated, I have a audio/visual tool that can help balance the brainwaves into deep relaxation. I also use something called PowerBrains which are calibrated at an alpha wave and can be very relaxing for my clients. Just holding them in your hands or placing them on the area of the body that feels tight or tense can bring one down a few notches. Sometimes, just having the opportunity to talk about your stressors with someone to listen and really care can be deeply relaxing. I am all about doing what works. I strongly encourage my clients to guide me to what is working for them. Come on in and let’s see what we can do to bring some peace and calm into your life.
Warmly,
Velina

I see that you have a degree in Psychotherapy. I am looking for counseling because of the intense stress I have been under and it is effecting every aspect of my life. But I also really feel the need for bodywork. Can you do both?
Thanks,
Julie – Broomfield, CO

Hi Julie,
Yes, I do have a degree in Counseling Psychotherapy, but I have chosen not to practice as a counselor for just that reason. Colorado law does not allow psychotherapists to give their clients a massage as well. While I was in my graduate studies, I came to see how important touch was in the healing process and that talk therapy just wasn’t enough to resolve the deeper issues that keep us stuck. So, I made a decision to do my internship in a hands-on healing art and use my training to help people on a different level. I felt that, given my gift of touch and my background in the mental health world, I could deliver a service unlike any other. My belief is that I can do so much more giving my clients massage and teaching them how to heal themselvses. I can offer my skillful hands, my words of wisdom, and give you many tools for how to heal the wounds that keep you stuck. My clients find my approach a wonderful alternative or addition to psychotherapy.
Thanks for your question, Julie.
